Dolan, Tom

March 09, 2012
The death took place recently of the Fermoy-born Tom Dolan in New Jersey USA.

The late Tom who was educated at Fermoy CBS and lived in the family home at Briscoe Terrace, Fermoy, emigrated to the USA with his uncle at an early age. He was a US Army veteran during the Korean War. He was the manager of Office Support at the Parhmark Store in Carteret for 34 years. He loved fishing and travel and was a member of many organisations including being a Knight of Columbus Counsel and was one of the founders of the Irish-American Club.

The late Tom is lovingly but sadly survived by his wife of 52 years Margaret, his daughters Colleen (White), Monica (Pfeiffer), Geraldine and Sheila, his sisters Betty (Gallagher Glanworth) and Maureen Walsh (Clondulane Fermoy), his brother Michael Dolan, Fermoy (former chairman of Cork County GAA Board and Fermoy club), his sister-in-law Liz, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
His remains were buried, following the Funeral Liturgy at St John's Church, Lakehurst at Brigadier General William C Doyle NJ Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown. A Remembrance Mass was celebrated in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Fermoy, on Saturday last.

As testimony to the esteem in which the Dolan family members in Fermoy and Glanworth are held, a huge congregation which included representatives from GAA clubs all over Cork county and elsewhere, attended the Mass which was celebrated by Rev Fr Aquin Casey Adm.
Following Mass, Tom's brother Michael delivered a eulogy on his brothers life and times which was greatly appreciated by all present many of whom had scarcely heard of or knew the late Tom.
Our sincere sympathies are extended to Tom's wife Margaret and 'family' and to his sisters and brother in Fermoy and all their extended families on their sad loss.
Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
