The Late Carey Joyce

The death occurred recently of our esteemed life president Carey Joyce. Carey was a great character and you would have a most enjoyable conversation with him no matter what the subject was. We in the Grange Club are greatly indebted to Carey and son Denis and their families for giving us the continuous use of their land for the sporting contingent in the locality.

As well as his political prowess as a TD and a member of Cork County Council as a Councillor which he administered with enthusiasm and conviction, he was also a very accomplished sportsman in his youth. He participated in several sports meetings and was also a top class swimmer. His popularity was very evident as large crowds attended his removal and funeral.

A guard of honour was formed by member of the club at his removal and funeral in his honour. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Margaret, son Denis, daughter Mary, his brother and sisters, grandchildren, in-laws, relatives and large circle of friends.
