Jerry Keating

The death of former Duhallow Junior Board chairman Jerry Keating has been greeted with great sadness by Gaelic games gaels across and outside the north West Cork division. Holding the position for 28 years the Lyre clubman enjoyed a distinguished administrative career culminating on serving as divisional board chairman from 1974 to 2002.
A native of Rylane the late Jerry was a retired national school principal and in his capacity as Duhallow Juvenile Board secretary he worked tirelessly for promotion of gaelic affairs and particularly the game of hurling. He held the position of chairman of Cork Coiste Scor for thirteen years holding a key interest on promoting all the best of music, song and dance amongst GAA clubs.
Whether as a teacher or an administrator Jerry Keating was a thorough gentleman, truly captivating, his kindness and understanding was seen in his enthusiasm and dedication that endeared him to a legion of friends far and wide. Ar dheis De go raibh a rinn Dilis.
