The late John McHugh
The death took place at the CUH, Cork of John McHugh on Friday November 21.
From Doneraile Road, Castletownroche, John worked for many years at the Borden Power Milk Plant at West End in Mallow and was a very popular man throughout North Cork in GAA affairs and acted as a hurling selector at County level in the past.
He was very involved in the upkeep of Castletownroche with the town winning many tidy town awards over the years.
He was also a life long member and activist in the Fine Gael party.
In a tribute, Noel O'Connor, Fine Gael MCC and MTC, said John was a very genuine man who contributed so much to the party and will be greatly missed by political colleagues and by those across the political spectrum.
John was predeceased by his wife Margot and survived by his sons Donie and Eamonn, daughters Kathy and Valerie, sisters Kathleen and Mary, relations and friends.
His funeral Mass was held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Castletownroche on Tuesday, November 25 with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.
To the McHugh family we offer our deepest sympathy.
