New York GAA have nominated Larry McCarthy to run for the GAA presidency.

The Bishopstown, Co. Cork native becomes the fourth candidate to enter the race after Jarlath Burns (Armagh), Jerry O’Sullivan (Cork) and Mick Rock (Roscommon). John Horan's successor will be elected at GAA Congress next February, but won't take office until 2021.

A former New York county board chairman, secretary and PRO, and  a member of the Sligo club in the Big Apple, McCarthy is currently a trustee of the GAA and also sits on the GAA's Management Committee.

He works as an Associate Professor of Management at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, where he specialises in sports marketing.
