Cork’s bid to make up for the disappointment of relegation to Division 3 of the Allianz football leagues could be boosted by the return of Ciaran Sheehan to the county jersey.

The 28-year-old  has revealed on social media that he is returning home from Australia in September.

The 2010 All-Ireland winner has spent the last five years in Melbourne after swapping gaelic football for Aussie Rules.

His Carlton Blues career was interrupted by a catalogue of injuries and his professional contract came to an end in 2017.

Rebel County football followers will be hoping the former Irish International Rules star will return to the inter-county fold in 2020.

His last appearance for the Leeside outfit was the 2013 All-Ireland SFC quarter-final defeat to Dublin.
