Deane: more positivity needed

Cork's Ruairi Deane netted the game's only goal at Semple Stadium

Cork forward Ruairi Deane believes that negative comments about the state of football in the county will not help change the situation.

Relegation to FL3 for 2010 is a low blow for the Rebels following a disastrous league campaign.

They now must regroup for the Munster SFC and Deane feels that they only way they can move forward is if that everyone gets behind the team and comes up with solutions to fix the problem rather than give out about it.

Speaking to the Southern Star, Deane feels that the more positivity surrounding the squad the better for all going forward.

“We can all row in and buy into something and maybe that will help find a solution,” stated Deane.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If an opinion is just negative, what is that going to change? That’s a question I ask myself if I am going through a tough time. I’ll ask myself what is this attitude going to change? It will change nothing. You have to keep positive and drive forward.

“Look, people can come out and support us if they want, but negativity isn’t going to affect what we are going to do on and off the pitch.”
