Cork star Patrick Horgan says winning an All-Ireland senior hurling championship is “not the be-all and end-all” as far as he’s concerned.

Horgan, who turned 30 in May, is still waiting for his first Celtic Cross with the Rebels and while he recognises that it is the ultimate prize, he still says he would have no issues coping if he were to finish his career without one.

“At the end of the day, you have a Kilkenny team there, like I don’t even know how many they have, 10, nine, eight each? Whatever,” the Glen Rovers ace told the Irish Daily Star.

“Something like that, at the end of it all, if you asked them what they’d take away from it it’s fellas they played with, how friendly they got with them and the different stories they have from games together and all of that.

“Having one is obviously, you know…you’d cut off your arm for one but they’re not the be-all and end-all. I’ve friends playing with Cork and they’re friends for life.”
