The late Cathal O'Loghlen
The parish of Ballyvaughan and surrounding communities were shocked and saddened on hearing of the untimely death of Cathal O'Loghlen, Glossop, Derbyshire and formerly from Loughrask, Ballyvaughan.

After graduation from UCD he worked with the Kerry branch of of the IFA where he negotiated support for systems with financial systems for the South Western farming community which was experiencing difficult times.

He was also the original sponsor of Ballyvaughan Community field whose opening he attended during the summer of 2002. In 1973 and 1974, Cathal and his brother Martin played with Colaiste Einde when they won consecutive Connacht colleges senior championships. Both were members of the North Clare amalgamation which contested consecutive Clare senior finals in 1977 and 1978.
Since setting up home in England, he maintained a keen interest in the fortunes of Clare teams and he introduced some of his English and Welsh associates to the recently refurbished Croke Park stadium.
