The Late Patsy Bolton
It saddened me deeply when I heard that Patsy Bolton had died. We had only been in his company the previous week at a family wedding in Scariff. He loved coming back to Scariff, even though he made his home in Manchester.
Born in 1942, he moved to Manchester in the mid sixties. There he met Mary, his beloved wife for over thirty six years, raised two sons, Richard and Martin, of whom he was very proud and had two grandsons, Sean and Adam, whom he cherished . Patsy was a great family man, and he often arranged family celebrations in Manchester and Scariff, to the finest detail.
Patsy loved hurling. He won a minor championship medal in the late fifties. He was a great supporter of Clare and made sure he was in Croke Park in 1995 and 1997. He played rugby in Scariff as a younger man, and in more recent years he learned to play golf and then introduced his sons to the game.
Patsy loved his garden and was deeply involved in the Horticultural Society in Stretford, Manchester where he was treasurer for many years.
Its an honour for me to write this appreciation and its only fitting that it should be printed in the 'The Clare Champion', because for forty years, a week never went by that this paper was not posted to him.
