The Late Tom McGann
The death occurred of Tom McGann, Kiladysart Cross and formerly of Knock, Inch. Regarded as one of the most successful business people in the county his untimely death at 52 was greeted with much sadness by all who knew him.
Tom was know as a hard working individual, after his education at Inch National and the Vocational School, Ennis, he was one of the first people in the county to serve his time as a plumber working for the late Christy Reddan of Barefield.
A great supporter of all sporting codes in the county, in his school boy days Tom played hurling for the Ennis Tech and for Kilmaley hurling club. He was a member of the u-16 Kilmaley side which won the first ever underage competition in 1968 defeating Killaloe in the final - the golden era for the club leading right up to the present time.
Tom always maintained his interest in Kilmaley and Clare hurling. His good humour and natural ability gave him a clear advantage in the business world which he ventured into in the mid-eighties.
His popularity was in evidence with the huge turnout of people from all walks of life for the removal of his remains from his home to Clarecastle Church and again for the burial to Drumcliffe Cemetery after funeral mass.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret; sons, Niall and Cathal, daughter Emma, sisters Mary, Ann, Carmel, and Clare, brothers Michael, Seamus and Dermot.
