The Late John Lyons John Lyons, formerly of Kilmastulla, Ballina died suddenly at his home in Ealing, West London. Son of the late Michael and Sarah. John was born in 1942 and worked in the Office at McKeogh's before emigrating to the UK in 1961. He was actively involved in the Ballina GAA club during his youth and at the age of 19 years was called for trials for the U21 Tipperary Hurling team. However, he had decided to emigrate and did not attend trails. John enjoyed a most successful life in the UK and kept in close contact with his native parish. He visited Ballina quite frequently and had planned his second trip this year to coincide with a family event in September. In 1965 John married Donegal born Sheila, who pre-deceased him seven years ago. A change of career in 1970 saw John embarking on many successful years in the Pub business. This was followed by the purchase of Parkhill Nursing Home in Ealing and later The Crown House Nursing Home, which he successfully ran with his wife Sheila, until the time of her death. Following Requiem Mass, celebrated in Ealing Abbey by a great family friend, Fr Gregory. John was laid to rest in his adopted district of Ealing. Sincere sympathy is extended to John's daughter, Claire: his sons, Michael and John; his siblings in Ballina and Killaloe, Paddy and Mary his extended family, relatives and friends.
