The Late Jarlath Colleran A prominent Mayo born Ennis auctioneer died tragically when he was knocked down by a car while walking near his home. Jarlath Colleran (42) of Newpark, Roselawn, Ennis well known in hurling circles in Clare where his family have resided since they moved from Hollymount to Quin near Ennis. 40 years old Jarlath was son of Dollyand the late Jack Colleran, formerly of Hollymount. He was predeceased by his wife Mary eight years ago. He had re-married in the intervening years. Jarlath came from a large family and had seven brothers and six sisters. One of his brothers Gerard is editor of The Star newspaper. A number of the young Colleran children attended school in Roundfort before they moved south to County Clare. A stylish hurler in his young years, Jarlath played in three Harty Cup finals in the 1970s with St. Flannan's College. He was centre field on the team that ended a barren spell of 18 years in 1976 when they defeated De La Salle from Waterford. Jarlath captained the team in 1978 which also included his brothers Noel and Raymond and first cousin, Philip but they were beaten in the final. He is deeply regretted by his wife Terena and family Gerard (15), Clare (13) and Jarlath (10), his mother Dolly, brothers and sisters in-laws, nieces, nephews relatives and many friends.
