Colleran, Jarlath

November 30, 2002
The Late Jarlath Colleran When word spread that Jarlath Colleran had died following on accident it sent shock waves throughout the parish. A young man in his early forties Jarlath ran an Auctioneering Business in Ennis. Of course it was his hurling skills most people remember him for. Having played for Clooney, he was on several championship winning teams in the 70's. He won two under 16, one minor B championship and league and junior B championship with Quin in '78. Jarlath also won Dean Ryan, Harty and All Ireland medals from his playing days with St. Flannan's. He also wore the County jersey at under age level. Playing in the backs or in the forwards he was a very skillful hurler. The removal of his remains from Daly's Mortuary Chapel to St. Joseph's Church was one of the biggest funerals ever seen in the town. It was a fitting testimony of his contribution in the community. Jarlath is now laid to rest in Inagh Cemetery with his late first wife Mary who died suddenly eight years ago. To his wife Triona, daughters Claire, sons Gerard and Jarlath, mother Dolly, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, in-laws and his many friends our deepest sympathy. Jarlath in life we enjoyed your company in death we will not forget you. Courtesy of the Clare Champion November 2002
