The death has taken place of Joseph (Buttons) Marrinan, Corry Lane, Kilkee. The removal of the remains took place from Lillis' Funeral Home, Kilkee on Sunday last [to Kilkee Church and the burial took place after requiem mass on Monday in Lisdeen Cemetery.
The deceased was a noted footballer in his earlier days and he starred for both Kilkee and Clare for many years garnering several awards along the way. Indeed, he has the rare distinction of lining out for the Kilkee minor and senior teams in the county finals on the same day. He was also a member of the Warwickshire panel that reached the 1946 All-Ireland junior final in which they were defeated by Down in Croke Park.
Domiciled in Birmingham, England for many years, he returned each year when he liked to recall some of his earliest youthful exploits.
