The Late James (Jimmy) Nolan

The death has taken place of James (Jimmy) Nolan of " Sui Mhuire', Finavara, New Quay. Jimmy was one of the area's best known and liked senior citizens. With his late wife Nora, they were involved in many voluntary organisations and gave unselfishly of their time for the betterment of the local community.

Jimmy was a progressive farmer and agricultural contractor providing an excellent service to his fellow farmers throughout the Burren and South Galway region. A great GAA man, he will be remembered in Ballyvaughan for his help and generosity during the development of the local community field.

Like so many of his generation, he worked hard, he was an excellent neighbour and always found time to attend to the corporal works of mercy. He was a great family man who socialised and enjoyed life.

The huge attendance at his funeral on both days bore testimony of his popularity and that of his family. He had a keen interest in politics and was a life-long member of the local Fianna Fail Cumann.

Predeceased by his wife Nora, he is survived by his sons, Shane, Seamus, Donal, Michael and Ronan; daughter, Siobhan; sister, Peg; in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren an a large circle of relatives and friends.
