Joey McLoughney was on target with a late free to earn Toomevara a draw with rivals Borris-Ileigh in Nenagh.

The MacDonagh Park scoreboard read, Borris-Ileigh 0-21 Toomevara 1-18, when the full time whistle sounded as the neighbours couldn't be separated after an entertaining tussle earlier this afternoon.

Borris-Illeigh's standout performer in the All-Ireland SHC final defeat to Ballyhale Shamrocks at Croke Park six months ago, Jerry Kelly sent over four points from play in the first half which they finished 0-12 to 0-10 in front. Toomevara missed a penalty just before the break when goalkeeper Robert Delaney struck straight down the throat of his opposite number James McCormack.

Though Toomevara found the net 10 minutes into the second half as Mark McCarthy blasted home and Kevin McCarthy followed up with a point to give them a 1-15 to 0-17 lead.

In a dramatic finish, scores from Brendan Maher and Kelly regained the initiative for the Munster champions before McLoughney held his nerve to land the equaliser.

There were three other games played out in the Dan Breen Cup today as Clonoulty-Rossmore overcame Eire Og Annacarty Donohill by 2-18 to 0-16, Upperchurch-Drombane defeated Burgess 0-21 to 0-16 and Nenagh Eire Og finished strong to see off Holycross-Ballycahill, 1-19 to 0-11.
