Former Clare hurler Niall Gilligan has been nominated by his club Sixmilebridge to run for the position of Munster Council delegate at next month’s county convention.

The Clare GAA convention takes place on December 12th and Gilligan looks set to run for the position having recently retired from club hurling.

However, he will face competition for the two positions available as Naomh Eoin clubman Kieran Keating is expected to try and retain the position he has held for the past four years.

The other delegate Inagh-Kilmona’s PJ Kelly must step down due to the five-year rule, but St Joseph’s Doora Barefield clubman Bernard Keating and Ennistymon’s John Fawl are expected to run also.
