Shane O'Donnell has tipped Limerick to retain their All-Ireland SHC title

Clare forward Shane O’Donnell has tipped rivals Limerick to defend their All-Ireland SHC title.

O’Donnell and his Clare team mates can only look on with envy as their campaign came to an end at the Munster SHC group stage.

Limerick’s win over Tipperary in the provincial decider last Sunday has made them even stronger favourites to retain the Liam McCarthy Cup.

Speaking to the Clare Champion at this week’s Irish Open Pro-Am golf at Lahinch, O’Donnell feels that the Shannonsiders are best equipped to go all the way.

“Limerick are looking extremely well and everyone can see that. They are playing really well and their structure is playing to their strengths,” said O’Donnell.

“They are definitely the favourites and they deserve that. After the showing they gave at the weekend, I can certainly see them there in September or the end of August but there are a lot of teams playing well. Wexford are playing extremely well too but Limerick are the front runners.”
