Clare forward Keelan Sexton admits that last Sunday’s relegation saving win over Tipperary will go down as one of the greatest days for the Banner footballers.

A last gasp goal by Sexton saw Clare come from behind to snatch the win that preserved their FL2 status while relegating Tipperary and Cork.

The Kilmurry-Ibrickane clubman put the win ahead of their promotions from FL3 and FL4 in recent years as he told the Clare Champion that relegation would have been a massive setback.

“It’s up there in terms of wins for us personally. There was a lot said about the game beforehand by us and by Tipp,” said Sexton.

“It had a real championship atmosphere and it was do or die for both. It was a quality game of football and we were lucky we came out the right side of it.”
