Gerry O’Connor was impressed by Clare’s “battling qualities” during their dramatic draw with Limerick at Ennis on Sunday.

The hosts trailed by four points at the break and had to play into a stiff, cold breeze in the second half, battling back brilliantly to take a share of the spoils.

“The real positive for us was the battling qualities that out players showed,” their co-manager told Clare FM. “There’s a camaraderie, a spirit.

“There’s a special bond between this group and they showed it there. We spoke about this for the last two years, about Cusack Park being a fortress and it’s important we maintain that.

“The reaction that we got when we were coming back into the game at the start of the second half was huge for the players. They fed off that energy and connection with the supporters.”
