Clare's Cian Dillon

All-Ireland winning Clare defender Cian Dillon has brought the curtain down on his inter-county playing career.

The 2013 Liam MacCarthy Cup medallist has played his last game for the Banner County having made his senior debut in 2010.

As well as winning an All-Ireland SHC title six year ago, Dillon was joint-captain of the Clare side that claimed Allianz HL Division 1 honours in 2016.

The Crusheen clubman, who turned 30 last October, was also part of the first Clare team to win the All-Ireland U21HC title in 2009.

Clare's joint-managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor paid tribute to the departing Dillon in a statement posted by the Official Clare Hurling Supporters Page this evening:

"Cian has been a central figure in Clare's successes since making his debut for the county at U21 level in 2009.

"Cian has been an exemplary ambassador for his county and for the game of hurling and we wish him the very best in his ongoing club career with Crusheen."
