Tipperary football selector Shane Stapleton will be kept in hospital overnight for observation but appears to be okay.

Today's Allianz FL Division 2 draw between the Premier County and Clare in Ennis was overshadowed by a sideline collision involving Stapleton and Banner County player Jamie Malone.

Malone was competing for possession in the 46th minute of the Cusack Park stalemate when his momentum carried him into the Tipperary backroom team member who fell to the ground and hit his head off concrete in front of the stand.

Despite Malone being shown a red card, a Tipperary GAA spokesman told Independent.ie that the incident appeared 'accidental with no intent from the player'.

Stapleton was taken to hospital via ambulance and the update on his current condition is positive.

As for the game itself, Premier boss Liam Kearns believed his team were lucky to share the spoils.

"I don't think we started well, we got five points to one up but I don't think we deserved that," he remarked to Tipp FM Sport.

"We were seven points to five up at half-time and we didn't deserve that either.

"I felt that Clare were entitled to be level or up at half-time. At no stage did I feel we were winning the game or performing well enough to win the game.

"I'm relieved to get out of there with a point."
