Don't overload the County Board.
They can't get the league started so don't overwhelm them by adding the championship into the mix

Are all the champs not the Longford system so no need for draw yet?

Well that's 2 groups of 4 where 3 qualify from each group ... edge of the seat stuff..
And 3 clubs involved in last years relegation playoffs plus intermediate champs where 2 qualify
18 group games plus 4 quarters 2 semis and a final .
Works out at 25 games in the Senior Championship alone no counting replays or relegation playoffs..

Is the senior champ not the same as intermediate last year then?

No it is the OLD longford system we are operating off this year. They changed theirs because it was rubbish.

1 Group. 14 Teams. 4 Games each. Open draw after each round. Top 8 into QF. Bottom 6 into Relegation.

If it's 1 group 14 teams how do they decide the 4 games you play?

It's an open draw the first week, then a draw after each week. You can't play same team twice. Fairly simple

Sure same last year. You don't know which day of weekend you're playing till CCC set fixtures at the Monday meeting. Teams will know what weekends they're playing in advance so can prepare accordingly.

Skelling.... you don't seem to have much time for club football from your negative club football posts..
Quick one for you???where do you actually think county players come from?
My reckoning is if you look after club players... treat them right.. show them and their clubs some respect regarding fixtures then and only then you might have potential County players will to step up and show the same interest that they were shown.
There more to the GAA than the super 8 .
Club players, Clubs have been treated appealing by the powers that be this past few years.
It's no wonder the drop out rate is so high

Awwnow, I haven't said anything negative about club players. It's as far as I ever played. I don't hear any club players moaning in my everyday life. It's just on here. People moaning on their behalf.
I've also not championed the Super 8, I just tried to dispel some inaccuracies that the likes of you spout, for example, that it will keep players away from their clubs for longer. I think you finally got that that isn't the case.

while your county is still in the championship there will be no club football played as the County team will play every 2 weeks.
So the county teams involvement dictated club football.
The Super8 will end same time at quarter finals end this year... 1st weekend in August. ..

Good man. So two teams that exit the Super 8 will leave on the SAME weekend as this year, so like I said NOT LATER. The other two will leave a week earlier, but you don't mention that because it doesn't suit your argument. So overall, 30 counties will exit the championship earlier under the new proposals and two will exit at the same weekend. Net hold up club championships...........zero.

Skelling...as things stand, Club football is suffering as it is, so when the super 8 comes in, the longer a County stays in the competition, the longer the club games get delayed. For your information, Ive been involved at management level for the last 5 years, and theres nothing but discontent from my players, they went 60 days between a league game in Cavan last year, and were then expected to play 3 of them in 7 days. They cant plan weddings, stags, holidays, they can plan nothing until the actual confirmed fixtures are out.

Surely, if there were regular league and championship games, it could only assist the County Team, players could be drafted into the panel based on regular good performances, rather than having a closed panel from the beginning of the year.

All you need to do is look at the CPA membership, growing each week, and youll see the amount of discontent with club players.

Spot on blueman. Club scene is becoming a joke. Where inter county football is concerned we are in danger of killing the goose that lays the golden egg. Unrealistic expectations expected from young lads now regarding club football. Put your social life on hold for 10 months, train religiously and keep every weekend free for "matches". Because they could happen anytime. But we'll call you!

cavanblueman, I'm not sure what it is you're directing at me as you seem to be making a lot of points.

What I said is very clear; compared to the old system a team leaving the championship at every stage will leave it earlier in the calendar under the new system. I'm not advocating the Super 8. I'm just point out the inaccuracy of what some are saying about it.
