Cavan v Monaghan or Fermanagh.
Hope it's Monaghan.
Bring it on.

Tell you what lad's lets see how the league goes first before you start making predictions. By the way are Armagh not in Cavan's side if yes are you writing them off if yes a HUGE mistake thats for sure. Pete McGrath also wants to guide Fermanagh to their first Ulster title and let me tell you it would be very unwise to ignore this mans ability as a leader. It took a huge error to knock them out of the Championship and the team that beat them played in the All Ireland Final and were unlucky not to win it. Disrespect teams at your peral.

I wouldn't disrespect anyone in Ulster - I think we've lost to every team in Ulster since 2000. But I have to say, this is absolutely our best chance to make an ulster final in at least a decade. Monaghan will beat Fermanagh - it'll be close, but they'll win by 3 or 4 points. That gives us Monaghan in Breffni and they'll have a game under their belt, a tough ask but a very winnable game and I think we've improved since we last met while they have slipped back a little IMO. The winner will make an Ulster final. Not sure who'll win the Armagh Down game but I'd make Armagh favourites. Either way, if we beat Monaghan it would be seen as a failure to then lose the Armagh or Down.

Sean you're very uptight these days. The lads are only saying that we have a great chance of an Ulster final. In my opinion, we have an ok chance but we know that we will have to be at our best to get there. But this is a good draw in that we have avoided Donegal, Tyrone and Derry. Thats all. It gives us a bit of optimism and that can feed into the players and create momentum from the start of the year!!

No disrespect intended just going on past performance over the last few years. Fermanagh could well do a number on us certainly capable but you would have to fancy a Cavan Monaghan clash in Breffini and for me its winner takes all i.e. place in the final chance to win it. These are good days for both counties in Div 1 and a reasonable chance of doing alright in the Summer enjoy it.

Any of Fermanagh, Monaghan, Cavan, Armagh and Down have a realistic chance of making the Ulster final, all 5 counties must be happy that they are on this side of the draw. Depending on a bit of confidence been build up in the league will give a clearer indication come April of who is in the better place. But at the first training session in Cavan this year it will defiantly be set out as a realistic target to get to the Ulster Final and once you are there its only 1 game where anything can happen.

Hard to get too excited about these Championship draws as the back door renders them almost meaningless to 3/4 County's that have any hope of winning an All Ireland... you would be time enough doing it in March

When making the draw how do they decide which teams are in the top half and which are in the bottom half of the draw?
Why were Tyrone and Derry in the top half and Cavan and Monaghan in the bottom half? Anyone able to answer this?

I didn't see the actual draw itself - but any previous year, Ulster championship is completely random, with the first 2 teams out of the hat playing in the preliminary round - in this case, Fermanagh and Monaghan. Then the first q-final, then 2nd, 3rd, and finally the team who plays the prelim winner.

Did it happen differently on Thursday night?

Our 3 club representatives are in action this weekend,
Firstly Ramor face a trip to Armagh to take on Maghery who were crowned armagh champions for the first time a fortnight ago. The extra week break will give them an advantage over Ramor. It's gonna be a tough ask for them, a very young side possibly minus Jack and Barkey again but Sunday they showed they have strength in depth.
Arva play Pomeroy in healy park in omagh sunday also. Another very big ask, the standard in tyrone IFC is always exceptionally high and from what i hear Pomeroy are a very good side.
Cornafean v Rock in Breffni park gives them a slight advantage but unfortunately this is another game where I cant look by the Tyrone team who have been around the block and possibly won an ulster junior in years gone by. All in all it is hard to see a cavan winner this weekend but possibly ramor our best chance, heres hoping someone can upset the odds.

Met the new manager last Saturday a nice friendly person and if his hand shake is anything to go by and our short conversation he will do fine. Sadly his first year will be with the majority of whats there all ready I know we will be losing a few as they are heading for London to work. I hope Mattie concentrates on one task at a time and the first is trying to keep this team in the first division a huge ask but if his personality works with the players we might well stay in division 1. Worry about ulster after that. Best of luck to Mattie and his management. I hear a few of the back room team are going to support him so that cannot be too bad.

Sean you say - "Sadly his first year will be with the majority of whats there"

Whats wrong with that? Are there masses of county standard footballers out there that WANT to commit to Cavan that he (and Terry) are/were missing out on??

Well what do you think he will have to find other players to replace those that will not be available for next year. Who knows if there will be others available or not he will know should he ask them I would think thats the way to go isn't it or does it work in Cavan that player say they are good enough ??? Off course there are good players out there time will tell if they will commit. Mind you last weekends replay was dire you would not say there was a county player amongst them but we know there was but very tired legs long year no break comes to a head at some stage doesn't it??.

Sean. I have no idea what you are saying. You made a derogatory statement about what is currently on the county panel (how its unfortunate Mattie will have to go with whats there already). I just asked you to explain that.
