Great decision if it's true. Did well with Kingscourt in the Ulster Club .

To be fair it's not his fault Cavan club football is behind every other country.theyre not good enough and no manager wud have got them any further.i personally know a lot of guys who have been coached by him and they have the upmost respect for him as a tactician and motivator

done well within the county but has to be mentioned he was also involved in the two most embarrassing defeats of cavan club teams in ulster. Mullahorhan in 2012 and Kingscourt in 2015. Hyland got Lavey to an ulster final remember. an average lavey.

1 game on Friday on the 3g pitch preliminary round
St Finbarr's V O Raghallaigh Gaels at 8:15pm

then on Saturday Quarter Finals
St Joseph's V Castlerahan

and Sunday another preliminary game

While you may be right in saying this competition is soon to be axed by the GAA, i still think the U-21 Championships in Cavan is one of the more competitive competitions in the county and one alot of players i know look forward to even if the timing of if starting in November is a joke. Amalgamations are the only way forward in this county at adult levels in my opinion, far too many clubs for a county of our size. I think we need to worry about alot of other problems in Cavan than the U-21 Championships.

It's sad that templeport had to pull out when they would have won division 2. Division 2 is surely there for killygarry or laragh to win

Good win for Castlerahan. Fergal Reilly is a class act. There'll be no scrapping under 21. And lowering minor to under 17. What do 18 year olds do? Straight onto senior panels to prevent burnout.

They pulled out due to the fact they had so many of their u21 players on their senior team who are a still in Ulster .... and also the fact it's on the 3G pitch does not help !!!

If they drop the minor age to 17 and there is no u21 comp where does an 18,19,20 21 year old get football from if he not at 3rd level college? Someone answer me that one.

i don't think the under-21 championship consists of many games or training sessions. at the most 4 or 5 games for those that go all the way to the final. most teams would have 1 or 2 games. it's something that is not a long drawn-out competition, it's straight knockout. perhaps they could ban players that had already played in senior/inter/junior championship. maybe that would give more fringe playrs a chance. anyway as it is the under-21 championship is over already for a lot of players after this weekend's games.

He gets it by playing club football and if not on the first team junior b,c or d. If he is not playing 3rd level football it is probably a good thing as he gets that all important rest period to recover both mentally and physically. The 3rd level season typically runs over the winter so when the club season finishes around October he gets the break until training resumes in January. Nothing to stop him keeping fit in between but at a lower intensity.
The problem with playing senior school or 3rd level is that they are normally still playing and training when the club season training and games kick in leading to extra sessions for them.
The idea of bringing minor to u17 and scrapping u21 is to prevent burnout.

To win an Ulster u21 title there a max of 4 games that's to win it. That's some burn out. Scrap the Hastings cup but leave the u21 championship. Run the club u21 I conjunction with the countyu21 around the same months not November . December. I'd scrap college football before I'd scrap underage club or county football
