We've lost many more over the last few years.

Lorcan Mulvey was London's stand-out player when they reached the Connaught final. I think Kevin Downes played for them for a while too.

This year, we have seen 2 of our best players pull out due to work commitments / injury problems.

The dedication needed to be an intercounty player these days is crazy and it's no surprise that players are prioritising work, study, health, family and a social life ahead of intercounty football.

Shannon Gaels are a middle of the road Junior Club in an isolated part of West Cavan, what could they possibly do to keep him? As for Cavan, he was around the fringes of the U21s for a few years, started in the Ulster Final and some of the All Ireland Semi final in 2012, wasn't making squad in his last year and didn't get a place on the Junior team. Hardly the profile of a player the county will push the boat out to keep.

i've a feeling that the London intermediate club scene is a far cry from the Ulster senior intercounty championship scene

Do you mean the one promotion in 4 yrs? an All-Ireland Q/Final drubbing against Kerry, a drubbing against a relagated Armagh Team in the Ulster Championship, a defeat against Roscommon in the National League Final & All-Ireland Qualifiers, a massive decline in crowd attendances because the standard & stlye of football is abysmal to watch, good players leaving the panel, blaming the pitch in Breffni Park for poor home form?

So again, tell me, apart from going up to Division 2, how have they been successful?

This lad was just not good enough at minor or U21 spent more time injured than playing so no great loss to the county set no disrespect meant picked up a few handy medals.

Like RHF has said - who has done better?
The All-Ireland quarter final is our best championship performance since the introduction of the qualifiers.
That same Armagh team came within a point of Donegal in Croke Park last August (before Donegal beat Dublin by 6 points!).
And these "drubbings" you mention were both by 6 points as far as I can remember - not the 18 points Cork hammered us by in 2010 or the 11 points LONGFORD beat us by in Breffni in 2011!

And another thread bites the dust but sure while I'm at it Dean; nobody said Hyland was successful (probably because they can predict your response), they said he was the most successful manager of the last decade. Who, in your opinion, has been more successful? Of course been beaten by Kerry is an embarrassment. Armagh, that were relegated, got to the AIQF and within a whisker of beating Donegal. You rank the league higher than championship of course. I'm boring myself here.

The main question that needs to be addressed is to the moderator on this site. Many, many posters have their posts, and in some cases direct responses to a question posed, blocked yet Dean Martin and Sean66 can pretty much copy and paste the same posts. It's ruining any meaningful discussion and make the likes of me bitter rather than discussing the game.

Skelling - Meaningful discussion,you mean you want us all to come on and profess our admiration for the 'Brilliant Job' the present management team have done. And here's me thinking that meaninful discussion was about the good & the bad!! You claim Hyland to be the 'most successful manager' of the decade, and again, I ask you, what has he done to make Cavan successful? Surely success means winning something, when the truth is, apart from the recent World Series win in New York, we havent come close to winning anything.
You can say all you want about narrow losses, or Armagh coming close to Donegal, but the reality is we are no further on than what we were under the aforementioned names. In fact, and you can research for yourself, crowd attendances have decreased under his tenure!! I wonder why?

Where did I ever profess my admiration or otherwise for Hyaland or say he did a brilliant job? I see the good things he's done, which were undeniable until you came along, and I also see the drawbacks to the style of football but I don't feel the need to keep making the same, one-sided point.

Again, "most successful" was the term used so yes, one promotion is better than what had gone before in the last decade. How can you deny this? Where have you pointed out the good as well as the bad? That's the crux of my point; you have nothing positive to say about the current set-up. Until you provide balance your point is meaningless.

I only mentioned Armagh because you pointed out our defeat "to a relegated team". You could have said we lost to a team that made the AIQF but your agenda wouldn't be served by that so you mention the league relegation.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember any member of the management blaming the pitch for a defeat.

This a thread (a bizarre one) about Cavan losing players and what has it become? Again, it's the moderator that allows this. I guess he/she see the comic side but I think pretty much everyone sees what you're up to and it's very, very tiresome at this stage.
