Now that the Gaels opponents are known lets all row in behind them this year in Ulster.
A good run in Ulster competition would do Cavan football all the good in the world
No to forget our junior and intermediate representatives who are also flying the Cavan colours with pride well done to all

I feel that a good run in Ulster by anyone of the teams will do football good. I suppose the Gaels should have the highest profile but the fact that competition within Cavan (other than a game or two) was weak will not auger well for a team going into Ulster competition.
But again lets all get behind the Gaels and the other teams playing in Ulster at any level

So the idea is that if the Gaels are beaten in Ulster its all the other Cavan clubs fault for not being good enough. I see - why didnt we think of that before - thats why they re beaten every year - nothing of course to do with the fact that re not good enough. Im sure the other clubs like Kingscourt will be sick with worry about not providing enough competition to give the Gaels a good run in Ulster or at least get them past the first round.

In relation to the above post you are a junior poster but you show a lot of promise( must be your previous posting name/experience is standing you good) you are correct in stating that the Gaels have been starved of top class competition with Cavan I have said that myself, but I feel that the Gaels along with Cavans other representatives will do us proud. I feel rather than be negative we should be positive and get behind all teams in Ulster competition the Gaels included. No doubt if the Gaels do well it will spill over into internal competition and that will do Cavan football a lot of good
So there is no reason for anyone with Cavan blood not to support our teams in Ulster and particularly the Gaels who is our senior representatives.
Forget about how much your club lost by or how much better other Cavan teams who are now our Ulster representatives were against your club just support Cavan teams in Ulster

tomsmith : to be honest with you I would rather Cootehill and Arva went on and won Ulster if not the AIl Ireland tand that the gaels were dumped to the sideline in their first match fingers crossed this is what will happen for the gales would be bad representatives for our county set up.

I can understand how you feel as all of you are from rural Cavan and as such you all look up to the town team with awe and anger in equal amounts. But this is understand able as this is a condition who some describe as mountainy man condition
Just bury the hatchet and support the Gaels this time

There you have it tomsmith right to the point well said cavan97 I suppose arrogance would be a word that springs to mind. Funny thing is some of their players are gentlemen .

I don't know why this forum would not allow my reply.
So I will change it a bit when a player walks in to play with our County team all he should see is the shirt of his county not his club shirt, so yes I will support any Cavan Gaels player that might make the County panel only as a Cavan player not as a Cavan gaels player. When I go to support our Cavan team I only see Cavan County players and not any club player's so I hope this answers your question. I take it you only support your Cavan Gaels players and non of the others??? when you or might go to see Cavan play ???

Mowbar I do not support Cavan Gaels but as Cavan representatives along with Cootehill and Arva I do wish them the very best in Ulster and congratulate all 3 on winning their respective championships. I view all 3 by the quality of football they play. Cootehill by in the late 60s and early 70s always played a lovely brand of football. Charlie and Brian Gallagher . Christy mc cutch eon the Hayes the carneys the sherlocks all contributed to our county teams.. Gaels in the 70s were a joy to watch . Players like Dalton Elliott phil Murray Gabriel Kelly all played county football and their underage structure in the 90s laid the foundation for their success of late. Arva were renowned for supplying great players to the county set up. Including the Bradys James and Gerry . Seamus Morris to name but a few. So to come on here and slag off any club like u have is totally out of order as they have all contributed to the betterment of Cavan football down through the years.

Yea I wish all three clubs the best in Ulster as every year but i have to say it is fellas like "Tomsmith here" with his nonsensical two thousand plus posts that turn genuine Gaels supporters against them.

Cavan gaels have a monoply by in large over the Cavan championship. They have not improved year in year out in Ulster. They appear to be a well balanced team. Its time now to put up a show. I think this competion will tell us a something about where our county standard is right now, a win in derry would be boost to all

The Gaels could do well if they can keep 15 on the field which they tend not to do in these competitions. They can be far too petulant so it's unlikely they will finish with a full contingent.
