Lads are away on J1's among other things during the summer, it will probaly be played in late October early November like it has been for the past few years. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2752 - 22/09/2014 09:40:39 1654989 Link 0 |
The County Board are struggling to complete a senior championship at the moment . They don't seem to care about the average club player . The u21 has been run off in late Nov this past few years but even that will be a struggle this year . Hopefully the necessary changes in personnel happen at this years co convention as I know a lot of clubs are very unhappy with the fixtures committee and officers of the CB. We won't have a county team if the CB continue to disrespect club football like they presently doing. It was bad enough a few years ago when we couldn't finish the league in the Callander year. Now we struggling to finish the championship before the Ulster club begins. If that happens I can see clubs claiming of the CB dirtybag (Cavan) - Posts: 242 - 22/09/2014 12:38:02 1655228 Link 0 |

Sean o Rinn let me explain this as simply as possible. Every year every clubs ambition in all grades to to go as far in their respective championships as possible including ulster and all ireland club championships. Some or most clubs raise funds through different fundraising events plus sponsorship to help with the expense involved in giving their club the maximum opportunity to progress as far as possible in their respective competitions. Our CBs sub commitees are suppose to ensure the smooth running of the 3 championships thus giving our 3 winners maximum opportunity to progress firstly in Ulster club. This year out fixtures committee fixed a first round game before the preliminary round was played. Then the 4 teams who qualified without losing were drawn with the 4 back door teams in an open draw. Where's the advantage there for winning through? Now we have a situation where we have a semi final paring on 1 side and the quarter final pairing not even sorted on the other side. The bye laws for time between games were not put into place. How now can the senior championship be finished more than a week or so before the ulster starts? What preparation is a week for our winners? Teams have been asked 2 play 3 games in 8 days. Other teams can lose 3 times and still be in the championship. How do the CB answer what's going on? Remember there will be no county team in a year or 2 if we don't look after the club players. Clubs are preparing properly at great expense and deserve more . If this senior championship is not finished in time I'd expect clubs to claim their expenses back from the CB . Wake up CB and treat these clubs right. dirtybag (Cavan) - Posts: 242 - 22/09/2014 21:13:22 1655642 Link 0 |

Yeah, they are not 100 % yet, still waiting to see if Drumlane, Belturbet and Butlersbridge will join too. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2752 - 25/09/2014 20:17:22 1657061 Link 0 |
Surely they will not allow all them teams to Join? It severely inhibits a clubs ability to develop players and also provide players with game time at a competitive level, and massively contributes to lads losing interest in the game. Allow the teams to compete in a division which suits them, but for the sake of development of the players I would try to stay away from amalgamations. Ok, some clubs must join due to numbers but clubs like the Gaels amalgamating is lunacy. The county board seem to grant silly amalgamations without actually looking at numbers at each age or quality of players at the clubs, baffling really. If a club takes the u21 competition seriously, they will have 4 to 5 challenge games prior to the competition beginning so players will have games even if they are beaten in the 1st round. It is up to the clubs to take a stand against amalgamations for their own sake and provide players with games to combat the "drop out" years of 18 to 21. galoping gazele (None) - Posts: 174 - 26/09/2014 09:56:32 1657126 Link 0 |
