Limerick V Cavan

A chance to make it 7 wins out of 7 (no other team in the country can do the same) and go to Croke Park full of confidence. Hopefully Terry will start with Givney and get some much needed game time into him. Also hope Mossy gets a bit of time, he could be important come championship. Would also like to see young O'Connor get a run.

You're right wishfulthinking. The county board has no respect or consideration for the club players

The top brass in the gaa never show any regard for club players....its all about County with those... Where do they think county players come from in the first place...they live in cloud cukoo land at CB level... Look at the farce of a Breffni league they have started up...??

Were Club games (Breffni League = Waste of time) not already fixed for Sunday anyway regardless of this game being brought forward tot Saturday?

The CB have no consideration for club players at all, god forbid the club players would like fo have a social life. Club games should be on a Saturday so players can go for a few pints or whatever they want to do for the rest of the weekend! I for one have to work on saturday night. If the games were on saturday I would have no problem playing, but working all night means I will not get enough sleep before the game. Trying to play a game with minimum sleep is ridiculous the brain cannkt function at full capacity. CB should have a club representitive from each club to help sort these issues out and listen to what the players want. As for the breffni league. Clubs voted to keep the same structure as last year but the CB thought they knew better. In my club the chairman asked all players what structure we wanted but yet the CB dont give a rats ass about anything other than €€€€€

Well then if that was the case then it is nothing short of a joke. But we already knew long ago that the County Board couldn't care less when it comes to Clubs anymore, all they want is he money from County games and seeing as our Senior's are now heading in the right direction and winning games they will be taking in more money from bigger crowds, etc... As for the Breffni League i'd have a few pints Saturday night regardless and go up on the Sunday and have abit of craic on the pitch seeing as they County Board couldn't care anyway!

Would love if that was the case but its hard enough to get out of bed after a few pints never mind run around a pitch.

What a load of nonsense! Breffni League games were moved to Sunday at 2pm as Cavan now play Limerick on Saturday afternoon. In the email sent out to inform Clubs of the change, ALL CLUBS were given the option to leave the fixture on Saturday evening at 5pm. As for games interfering with your social life, stop playing if it's so hard. If you're so worried about getting out on a Saturday night, Football means little to you anyway. A huge number of players work on Saturdays and this makes things very difficult, especially in the early part of the year when Saturday games were necessary and had to be played mid- afternoon. Those not working may have families and this means other commitments on Saturdays. Football is for Sundays. As for the County Board supporting the Breffni League option at the start of the year because there sole interest is money, League gates are for the Clubs. Nothing to do with the CB. If you are suggesting Club games should be fixed against County games in spite of the CB's so called greed for money, well that's just wrong. Club Football is very important to Cavan GAA but the County team and the lads that commit to it deserve our support too.

count yourself lucky SS1 that you don't work shift work which includes weekends and nights where it's not so easy to get time off on a sunday for games with 4/5 days notice when your after organising to get the sat off for the same game

Then talk to your Club and ask them to play as per the original fixture, Saturday evening. Might be more productive than coming on here and complaining about it.

Then talk to your fellow players, see what they think and go to the committee with that. Surely if one day suits the majority of players over the other, the club will go with that.

SS1 do you play because if you did you would no how hard it is to arrange work around football, the change in fixture this week was done in relatively good time (for CB). Last year there was change in dates for some games and clubs would be notified on the thursday before the weekend. That simply is not good enough for players to drop all there plans for a weekend at 2 days notice, im sorry if im complaining but I have brought this issue up at committee meetings time and time again and yet still nothing is done about it. I think it is time the CB set dates and times for all fixtures in the fixture plan and have a second date set in case a problem like this arrives again. Then at least it would make it abit easier to plan work, holidays etc. around the fixtures. Let me remind you we players play the game for the love and enjoyment of it and at the moment in my opinion the CB are turning players away from playing because they dont care about club players having to work or other commitments. I for one am seriously thinking of packing it all in as I cant afford to be missing work anymore!

I would have a lot of sympathy for Graveyardshift. A lot of fellas have to work even if they are at college to pay the fees etc.So CB should consider the players a lot more. And some companies have no time for lads trying to switch shifts!!

Was thinking what Terry said about the team for Limerick tomorrow. I think we should give most of the fringe lads a start. Some of these lads wont weaken the team and will be out to impress.I can see Terry's argument but would be inclined to blood the fringe lads. How about this for a starting 15 :
1.A.O'Mara
2.D.Maloney-Derham
3.J.McLoughlin
4.M.McKeever
5.N.Smith
6.A.Clarke
7.P.Tinnelly
8.D.Givney
9.P.Leddy
10.T.Mooney
11.M.Lyng
12.C.Conroy
13.E.Keating
14.D.McKiernan
15.D.Hyland
Some more lads probably deserve a run that I missed or cant remember like N.Murray.
I would start Givney,Alan Clarke and Keating because they are only back from lay-offs and need game time.J.Mc Loughlin needs game time as well and Micky Lyng could be a huge player yet come Championship time. I really think he can pull the strings for our inside line of McDermott, Dunne and Keating.
Best of luck lads tomorrow and hope we finish the Lge as the only unbeaten team.
Cavan Abu!!
