Match Prices

(Oldest Posts First)

Meath County Board have announced that
There will be a five euro admission charge to all first round football championship game this weekend, treasurer Brendan Dempsey announced at the April county committee meeting.
Most Cavan clubs charge €8 to their League Matches would it be better if Cavan Clubs reduced admission to €5 it might encourage more people to attend?

If clubs are charging €8 supporters are being screwed over. In Monaghan club matches its a fiver. No cope on club just being greedy. A Senior Championship game in Monaghan is €8 for a single game and €10 for a double header..

That is certainly OTT is the standard better than in the clubs that charge €8 and €5

Clubs charging high prices are screwing the people that support them most and support everything that the club runs, lower prices might attract more casual supporters.

Better ti have a big crowd attending our matches then the few that currently attends lower prices promotes our GAA GAMES better.

That is an argumentative ploy commonly used to justify extortionate prices. The two are simply not comparable.

The GAA is a symbiosis and if one side squeezes the other a little too hard it is really to their own detriment. Many GAA supporters are either players or GAA volunteers which tends to make them very loyal to their club. Preying on this is nothing short of disgraceful. The GAA as an organisation is in a very secure financial position whereas the average supporter is being fleeced from all angles with many in dire straits. At this time may GAA people are time rich but cash poor and clubs might be better looking at loyalty concessions for members as opposed to lazy price hikes. They might find people more forthcoming when it comes to
coaching underage teams, upkeep of facilities, selling tickets, washing kits etc. Unemployed members could offer their labour or trades in return for a yearly pass for example. I feel it would be a healthier relationship and I am pretty certain clubs would experience tangible benefits from such an arrangement.
