Senior championship

From what I seen during the championship I think Mullahoran are great contenders with player of the calibre like Paddy Brady, Dermot Sheridan, Michael Brady, Ray Lynch, young Enda Reilly, Philip and Paul Brady and Killian Brady at full back very strong team and good all round.

Are you serious maybe one of the 8 players you mention is worth having on the senior panel just one. Philip the gunner only scored once the other evening ?,

Am i right to say that 7 out of the 8 quarter finalist are already known with the third round of fixtures still to be played?? What a joke.

yea thats right.. there is one group with everything to play for.. Either Gowna or Killygarry will join Mullahoran in the last eight.. Gowna and Killygarry meet in the last game in a winner takes all in 2 weeks time.. Tight one to call but i fancy Gowna to progress...

Is there any point in playing the 3rd group game in the majority of the groups ?
7 of the 8 1/4 final places are already filled, it's an open draw so doesn't matter if a team finished 1st or 2nd.
There are league games fixed for next week, with some teams having 3 games in 7 days.
Why not scratch the final group game & push the Wednesday evening league game out to the following weekend where possible.
Some teams might make the 1/4 finals, but that is as far as they will go & it will be there league position which may cost them senior status for next year

I can see where you coming from Tony, but at the end of the day, the rules are all fixtures have to be fulfilled irrespective of the consequences. Most of the games are dead-rubbers, but many clubs will still want to give it their all, and go into the Quarters on a high. Plus in many cases it will give management the opportunity to play fringe players, blood a couple of players, give them their first taste of Championship in some cases and this can only be a good thing to get into the cut-and-thrust of championship football.. Also, your point about 3 games in 7 days, im not sure about this, what clubs does this apply to? I know the vast majority if not all the clubs have 2 games in 7 days, anyway more will be revealed in the Celt later today.

Your correct its a great chance to gain experience. But unfortunately you ll see clubs hanging onto fringe players for Junior B Champ. Esp if the club have a good second string.

But all given i ve seen great games pressure is off games won t be in breffni & players sometimes express themselves better..

Yes, both got straight reds, verbal abuse 2 the referee. Not exceptable not matter they are. The referee is there 2 do a job.

who won that game with lacken and k.scourt? who was the ref? must have been bad abuse to be sent of. i'd imagine they will miss the next month or so which will include the 1/4 and maybe semi or is just league games?

two very harsh reds to be honest..even the lacken players tried reasoning with the ref for barrys red..the game ended 3.09 to 3.10 to lacken

Get your facts right Hoy, you heard wrong, Reilly was sent of for verbals as a lacken player got away with what looked like a throw pass when he was blown for one 30 seconds earlier. It looked harsh to be honest but Dillon deserved to go for his antics. What are you implying on lacken getting away with it as usual?

Ballygowanwater

It's ovobious that hoy hasn't a clue what he's talking about and I'm sure he's a Gowna man so I think that would explain why he is given a dig at lacken in the previous post..
