Gowna v Lacken

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

So the senior relegation match on this Sunday evening.
What are people's thoughts on who will be relegated.
I feel who ever loses, will stay in intermediate for a few years, as it is a farily competitive grade at the moment.
Lacken are not getting any younger & the two Crowes are surely coming towards the end of their careers & may not have much of an apetite trying to get out of intermediate ranks next season if it did occur.
Gowna also may struggle, while they have some young players coming along, they still are dependant on a few players to win them matches.
If Pierson is fit to play, i think they will win this game by a slim margin.
But this is gonna be a titanic struggle, in relegation matches, form & reputation go out the window.
Whichever side is hungriest + determined + make the fewest errors, will prevail.
Opinions please?

it will be a close game but i think lacken by 3 points gowna have no forwards at all they depend on der half back to do most of their scoring!!

IMO possibly the second most important match in the senior c'ship. I would love to be there to watch it as I think it'll be a hum dinger.
Will Dermot stand on the square? Gowna to edge it

one of them will defintely go down, I fancy Lacken to scrape it, it will be skin of the teeth stuff, but Lacken to emerge victorious, and preserve their senior status for one more year at least...

were you at the matches if not then you would not have seen one of the best points ever scored in the park last night by Gowna to get a draw, To be fair to both the teams they played to the whistle and both referees added time. My own opinion draws were the right results and they will have another go at it.

Conor Maddens free to draw the game was excellent for any player never mind a 17 year old.from 50 metres out under huge pressure he put it over.

When and where do you think these games will be replayed? Will it be a double header again?

maddens point was excellent under pressure but why didnt crow catch it instead of slapping it over the bar?? as for the row it was a disgrace the lacken sub coming onto the field and throughing boxes and then running away... was anyone sent off during the malee

Thought both games were very competitive, the senior had a lot more quality than the Laragh versus Killinkere game but that's understandable and you knew by the balance and make up of the teams. Junior had some very young and very old. Goalie for Laragh made two great saves and kept Laragh in it. In the senior - I think a draw was a fair result for both of them. Some great scoring by both sides with Lacken free taking exceptional, the point towards the end was brilliant from Gowna and just had just enough - Crowe didn't catch all of it and better safe than sorry. From the stand it initially looked like it went into the net. Bad tackle towards the end which may have led to the nasties. Young back from Gowna got a spear tackle in on the 40 by the Lacken number 6 who got a straight red A calculated challenge as the game was in the final minutes. The ref told the free taker that it was the last kick of the game so it was do or die. As regards the crap at the end, well an unknown sub entered the fray and threw a punch and it was a lot of hold me backs after that. Funny from the stand every one got up to leave and sat back down again not bad for a €5

Have to say great to see most games played in the field and for a €10 then that's great value, only comical side is the announcement of the subs which have messed up two days in a row.

Kevin Shanaughy was sent off for his tackle on mckeever near the end but no cards were issued.the sub who hit and ran was lackens county man. was galligan legal to play because i think he got a transfer to a club in OZ???
