Fixtures

(Oldest Posts First)

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there 2 championship games fixed for Breffni during the day and 1 and 7-15pm? Why couldn't they all have been fixed to run concurrent? Or are the County Board desperate for another gate? No matter how small. Poor thought in my opinion has gone into these fixtures. Why bring supporters from as far away as mountnugent and templeport and expect them to be in Breffni by 1 o'clock . Crazy. What's the reason the 3 games can't be played one after each other? If they can't for whatever reason why drag Ramorvand Castlerahen to Breffni? Should Lavey gaa grounds not be more suitable. ? These games in junior Intermediate and senior should be condensed more a give ppl a variety and value for their Euro. But my main gripe is a needless Sunday night Championship game . So apart from an extra gate can someone enlighten me as to the need.

Are the fixtures out for the weekend if yes I wonder why I have not seen them. I expect there must be an issues with the two replay's so I suppose fixtures will have to be adjusted to facilitate these. CCC was held last night so I expect I will get notification today of what's on. What day are you talking about ???

From what I've seen we got Templeport v Mountnugent at 1pm followed by Kingscourt and Ballinagh at 2.30pm then nothing til 7.15pm when we have Castlerahan v Ramor. If my reading is correct why could Ramor Castlerahan not gone ahead at 4-15? It seems another gate is the reason or is there another game on? County board really needs to take players and supporters needs on board rather than their own financial needs. Big big overhaul needed on all fronts regarding how we respect club football and its players , how we plan competitions and who we elect for the sake of it at conventions. Just read Brian Codys article on the main page regarding clubs and club players and it shows you Kilkennys mentality .

Sunday
Breffni Park
13:00 Mountnugent v Templeport
14:30 Ballinagh v Kingscourt
19:00 Ramor United v Castlerahan

I cannot see the logic of playing the Ramor/Castlerahan game at 7pm! Even if it is to get another gate and extra time was to be played in the Ballinagh/Kingscourt game, why not bring it forward to 6pm and at least play it in (diminishing) daylight??? Nobody will hang around Breffni for an hour after the conclusion of the other game surely?

It's another gate ... End of story with no player or supporter welfare taken into consideration . Hold your hands up Co Board and admit you got it wrong and change the last game to a 4-15 start. Both clubs should lobby the CB and make them back track.

Absolutely agree with the comments regarding the fixtures. Because of the Killygarry/Cootehill draw Sunday night, it meant a delay for Belturbet and Swad, bringing close to 10pm before it finished, 10pm on a Sunday night, kids have school, lads heeding back to work/college in other Counties.
I'll say it again, absolutely no reason why the Championship cannot start in May, the nonsense of freeing up weekends to accommodate the County team is stupid, just look at Brian Cody's thoughts about clubs and where they fit it, and given then man's success, its hard to argue.

Club championship should start beginning of July because the county team are usually out by that stage.

Why is there a 7-15 game on Sunday night when there no need for it? Come on CB explain why you making a mug out of the paying public.

I just can't understand why the county board persist with all these games in Breffni Park in the first place let alone having them at 8pm on a Sunday evening! I've been to a number of games this year in KBP and its been like a graveyard. No atmosphere and supporters can't get into a game when they are so far from the action. There are loads of excellent club grounds around the county which are being totally under-utilised. Why not have all championship games up until the semi-finals in club grounds and then have KBP for the big occasions? Look at the club games this weekend and where they could be held instead of KBP:

Cornafean V Kill - semi-final: KBP
Killygarry V Cootehill - Stradone/Lavey
Killeshandra V Lacken - Mullahoran/Ballinagh
Ballinagh V Kingscourt - Cootehill/Ballyhaise
Ramor V Castlerahan - Lavey

All games could be played Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon. No need for floodlights

I can't understand a crunch match being played on a Sunday night in Septembet. It's a total lack of respect for supporters who may want to bring their children and also for students heading back to College. Are there no people on the CCC with a bit of commonsense.

Even worse than the Sunday night games are the championship games being fixed for Wednesday nights at 3 or 4 days notice (with the possibility of extra time), when a large number of club players live in Dublin or further away during the week. And people wonder why some players quit early or transfer to Dublin clubs closer to their work / college ......

Can anybody tell me the dates for the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Championship Finals and what dates the winners of each championship play in their respective first round Ulster Club Championships?

Junior is on Sunday, Sept 27th. Intermediate is on Sunday, Oct 4th and Senior is on Sunday, Oct 11th. All winners out in Ulster on Nov 1st. Senior and Intermediate will play in Cavan against the Down and Monaghan Champions respectively. Juniors are away to the Donegal Champions on the same day.

There are a number of VITAL fixtures on Sunday which could decide promotion/relegation examples Kingscourt v Castlerahan, Ballyhaise v Ramor Utd, Killeshandra v Arva, Bailieboro v Swanlinbar all of these are fixed for 2.30, Ireland play Argentina @ 1.00 would it not be more sensible if the Cavan Fixtures were @ 4 and it would also help gates and attendances.
This year the County Board change the County Final from 4.00p.m. to 3 not to clash with the rugby could the same not be done to help our clubs?

what about all the newcastle/norwich and australia/scotland fans...those games are on at 4 on sunday! Just scrap the rest off the league, wasn't it promised to be finished before the championship this year anyway??
