He was well curtailed though with teams starting to target him for special treatment in the latter stages . He gets a lot of abuse in that role with club and county . You can't fault the club because they are limited with the options at their disposal but I think the county can and should protect him better . People also want to see us carry the ball less in the opposition half - that requires 1) to let the ball on more and most importantly 2) players inside capable of winning ball with a bit of guile to them . We have more options coming through in the out field roles with good direct players who can deliver quality ball as well . Not saying they are as good as Mackey - it's just a real testament to Cian's ability that he can play nearly any role and I think he's as natural inside as outfield . I'm not saying it's guaranteed to be a wonderful success either but it's something that I would like to see tried . Our dysfunctional inside line is really holding us back at the moment and it's time for the management to get radical .

We have got three points from our first two away games and are the highest point scorers in the League after two games, is now really the time to get radical?

Yes in short . Our inside line is not functioning and never really has and I don't see it improving if we persist with personnel that have been given more than their fair share of game time . It's great that we have done so well in the league so far but it would be stretching it to say the inside forwards have won us the points . If we want to develop into a good championship team and a top Division 2 team who can hold their own in Division 1 we need our inside forwards to contribute more especially in the bigger games . There will be days when the outfield players shooting from distance doesn't work .
