don't think you can compare our forwards to Donegal's in fairness

Donegal scored 2 -18 in the Ulster final that year, one of highest scores ever in a Ulster final

Good to hear Liam Mc Hale is taking over from Peter Donnelly. He did a great job with St.Brigids and has the talents and experience to improve the Cavan set-up. I dont know anything about the other new recruits but I think it will freshen things up. As people have said our defence seems to have been ironed out so we have to look at new offensive systems.A few Mayo and Rossie friends have said we have got a brilliant coach so lets give him a chance.
It should be very interesting to see how we fare in the McKenna Cup and then the League next year. It is a tough Division but with a bit more consistency we can be fighting for promotion.
There will probably be some new faces in the squad alright but the squad has really strengthened over the last few years so not too many.
I dont see a lot of club football but have heard good reports of lads like Declan Meehan from the Gaels and Enda Hessin Coothill. I am sure there are more even SJ with a good run in Ulster could earn a recall!!
I think the Gaels could do really well and with the wily Peter Canavan involved maybe this is finally their year in Ulster . They have such a large group of talented players it is hard to know why they havent made a bigger impact. Also Arva and Coothill could surprise a few people as they both have up and coming players. So lets all get behind our 3 teams and stop the bickering. Good luck to them all!!

Fingers crossed that Liam McHale will win the support of the players and that he gets to work straight away. If my memory is correct he worked along with Cavan/Coothill man Michael McDermott with the Clare Seniors and with the Killmurray Club side that got to the Club Final. It a long round trip from Ballina to Cavan for him ,I suppose we should fix him up with a House quickly as house prices are going up in Cavan.

McHales priority might be St Bridget's for the moment . If they win Connacht club they will be involved in February again so where would that leave McHale as regards training with Cavan.? Surely he will need to be fully commuted to Cavan from the off? Interesting how he will decide his time if Bridget's win Connacht .

After watching brigids on Sunday I can definitely see them there come February. Great bet at 20/1 for Andy Merrigan. Mchale has done a great job considering they are 7/8 players down from the team that won 2 years ago.

Yep, still tough to get out of Connacht nonetheless, they play Ballintubber in Connacht club in Castlebar, Corofin playing really well so they will be tough opponents too should they meet in the final

Great to see so many positive posts about Mc Hale, One of Mayo's best players and best Irish born basketball player of all time, Yet not given the due respect by his own county. Football IMO has taken a lot from Rugby in recent years in terms of strength and conditioning, now Basketball techniques are been used by the likes of Kerry, Donegal and Dublin. Ye have the right man alright and with your U21, I see Cavan winning Ulster and Maybe all irelands in the next few years.

Great praise I expect he will do nothing for Cavan and they will not win the Anglo Celt up in the next five years. We lost our quality replaced by children long long way to go.

Mowbar , you are talking rubbish. Maybe you are "one of the old boys or a mate of the old boys" who have gone from the panel and been replaced by a group of young players that have been winners at both U21 and Minor level. The squad is well capable of winning lots at Senior level over the next 4 or 5 years and Liam McHale knows that. Our Junior team proved what can be achieved if we play the right type of football. And I think Terry has learned a lot from what happened in the Championship this year. With a full and fit squad available results will definately improve.
So Mowbar the vast majority of Cavan supporters are very optimistic unlike you !!

Great to see the new lads into the county set-up,, it was required a change had to come, maybe not the full change that should have happened, like a new manager and selector, but it is what it is. hopefully the new guys in, gets a major say on tactics and style of play and changes during games.

Is Kevin Downes not a new selector?
