I think there should have been a big home coming for the Junior All Ireland Champions into Cavan town.Celebrate the victory in style. Stage, bands even open top bus. Eyeball

great to get a win and was great experience for some of these players, but lets put it in perspective.
No mention of it on Hogan Stand home page and no forun discussing it on Kerry home page. In fact, way way down in the articles we can see the report which is up top on our page.
They have bigger fish to fry - why don't we set our sights higher !!
We won a title that the rest of ulster have no interest in and beat mighty Scotland in the semi - ok we beat Kerry but I dont think anyone in the Kingdom will lie awake worrying about it

Have to say I disagree, firstly any day you beat the Kingdom is a good day out, just because the GAA isn't promoting this competition is not our fault. Secondly, You can only beat whats put in front of you. Thirdly, it gives a chance to some lads who in my opinion were very very unfortunate not to have a run with the seniors this year, eg Paul O'Connor, Enda Reilly, Tom Hayes, Conroy, Buchannn and Sankey. Also Enda Hession, Ciaran Brady and a few others cant be overlooked. Pity that Philly Tinnely and Mooney missed out.
The joy on the pitch afterwards was incredible, I thought the workrate and commitment out on the field was excellent. Tom Hayes first goal was an excellent individual goal and his second was and very very good counter attack from one end of the field to the other. So belittle our 1st All-Ireland in 62 years but its very important for our county to keep the momentum going. There has to be new players coming into the first 15 of any county every year and this tournament is an excellent way of doing that.

Well said Cavan97 an All- Ireland win at any grade is a great achievement and even sweeter after waiting 62 years for it.... There are only 4 football All-Irelands at County level up for grabs each year so we should be proud to get our hands on one of them... I would say the Kerry team and management are bitterly dissapointed in not winning as they should be...!

Any win is a good win.
But now Terry should be mulling over which of the players would make / improve the Senior team.
He should also have seen that they played defensive yet expansive football and realise that this is the way forward.
None of that other ultra-defensive crap.

Congrats to all involved in a brilliant win in the All junior final - it goes to prove the players are available and hopefully some will make the breakthrough to the senior team next year. However I have to take issue with the posters who maintain that all we have to do is "tweak" the system employed by the seniors this year. Lets not delude ourselves. I still havent recovered from that woefull display of non-football i had to witness against Roscommon and the Westmeath and Armagh games were not far behind. This will take a hell of a lot more than tweaking to put right - it will take a massive leap of faith from the management to trust the players to express themselves. I believe however we have the talent available if the will is there. We need to impose our game on teams not looking over our shoulder all the time expecting the worst. Self -confidence is lacking and i believe this has to be down to the management. Anyway it can only get better and well done again to the Juniors.

Have to agree with Tenyearplanand Cavan_slasher
It was a great display on Sat and fair play to all the lads. The spirit was brilliant and yuou could see after the game what it meant to the lads. And it is not as if we are winning All Ireland titles every other year.

And a good few lads put down a statement for inclusion in the Senior team. Somebody on Sat said to me that we had 6 better forwards out on Sat than we had aginst Roscommon and Armagh. Made me think. But I suppose it is a bit unfair on the Senior forwards when you consider the system we played. Really Eugene Keating must be the most frustrated player around.
But I think our Management have seen the light!!! They saw that ultra defensive systems just dont work. On saturday it was such an enjoyable game and also we could defend when we had to. But the proof was that we had our front full-forward line lying in and recieveing early ball. Hayes/Hessin/O'Connor destroyed the Kerry defence and Enda Reilly, Chris Conroy and the the midfield came bursting forward. Our half backs came streaming forward as well. Young Ciaran Brady has some engine. It was so refreshing.
So well done to the lads and hold your heads up high as you all have All Ireland medals.Dont let anybody belittle it.

Very good post Brownred.

When I looked at our team in the program before the game, I thought it looked very strong. Plenty of winners from recent U21 panels and lads that have been around the senior panel for a while like Damian Barkey, Chris Conroy and Niall Smith. I felt at the start that Kerry would need to be very strong to beat us. So that's just a snapshot of why the competition is so valuable to Cavan. We will really lose out if we are excluded from Leinster next year with no Ulster option on the horizon.

The County Board should now get working very hard to ensure our position in this competition.
It should not be left until the last minute.
Our young players should not be denied their chances. This is a good competition.

There's no chance of people getting carried away by this judging by the few hundred Cavan supporters that showed up for the match. As regards the question of junior and intermediate players in the Kerry team, that's not an issue down there. The Junior County team is selected on merit with emphasis on giving lesser known players a run. There are only about 12 senior teams in Kerry, based in the big towns more or less; the remainder are amalgamations such as Mid-Kerry, East Kerry and so on and it seems to ensure a good standard of football in the senior club championship. Kerry people reckon their two corner forwards are potential senior players given time and more experience. I think it's a good system all round and ensures a conveyor belt of good quality players all the time. Whatever Kerry team you play in any competition will guarantee high standards and intensity because that's the norm in the county and fair play to them.

In the meantime our lads deserve great credit for their dedication and football ability. I expect to see a lot more of them in the next few years.

Cavan Slasher if the county board has any whit they would stop wasting money in this competition. The genuine Cavan supporter have given this competition the thumbs down by the small attendance. Put the energy into our minors U21 and seniors instead of this competition. Just look the only way to enter is to play as a Leinster team and remember Cavan are Ulster part of the province of Ulster consisting of nine counties. If Ulster wanted teams in this competition they would have all the nine counties in it. Its a nothing tournament.

There were true Cavan supporters in Laois last weekend, the same familiar faces who were in Creggan in January and down in Wexford and Limerick during the league as well. Mowbar you are full of crap

I think lads like Mowbar rely on the newspapers for the reports on matches.
I doubt he travels.
