Cavan scoring sensation Martin Dunne admits his Ulster SFC debut against Armagh was the stuff of fairytales.

The 24-year-old scored eight points from play as the Breffnimen sent the pre-match favourites packing to set up a quarter-final joust with neighbours Fermanagh next month.

"You can only dream about getting the sort of opportunities I got today and putting a good few of them away, but I was getting some dream passes with the ball being put on a plate for me a lot of the time," he explained to the Irish News.

"I had the easy job of putting the ball over the bar and that's my job anyway. Kicking scores is the easiest part of the game.

"The most important thing is how well everyone on the team did their job and it's an absolutely fantastic result for Cavan football.

"The game was never going to be about just how I performed and that was proven by the character the lads showed after we conceded the goal. I thought we showed a lot of character in rebounding straight away to kick the next three points.

"It's a good sign of a team that can do that after the opposition scores a goal that is of the soft variety."
