East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club News
May 19, 2013
Under 14;
The weather was the winner again last week as the game in Carrick was postponed due to an unplayable pitch. We play Cootehill away on Wednesday before the finals day in Breffni Park next Sunday. This has been a very good league with some outstanding displays from our boys which will really help them when the Cavan League and Championships start later in the year.
Under 12;
We have a series of games for these boys when the under 14 league finishes next week.
Under 7/8/9/10;
The next round of Cavan Under 8 and under 10 blitzes takes place next Sunday morning at 10.30am in Breffni 3G. We hope to be well represented.
Foundation Level Hurling Coaching Award;
This course will be delivered by Paul Divilly, Ulster Regional Development Officer in Kingscourt Community Centre this coming Monday and Wednesday 20th and 22nd of May from 7-9pm both days. We encourage as many of our player parents as possible to learn these basic hurling skills which they can then use both at home and with the club during coaching sessions. We thank Ulster GAA for helping to have this course run locally as these are normally held in Breffni Park or further afield. It is vitally important that as many people as possible achieve this award as we can then move on to the next important stages of the clubs development.
Kingscourt;
Coaching for boys 5-10 continues every Tuesday. When the weather improves and when the Foundation Course is completed we will move outdoors.
Schools Blitz;
ECG HC catchment schools had a good mornings hurling in Mullagh on Thursday last. They got a good 80 minutes before the reliable Irish weather intervened. Thanks to Eoin Morrissey and his team at Cavan Hurling Development for organising these blitzes. Thanks to the local schools and their teachers and to the relevant Parent Associations who provided transport. It is much appreciated by everyone at the club.
