Mrs Maureen Williams
Carrigallen

There is widespread regret in the Carrigallen parish and beyond at the death of Mrs Maureen Williams, Clooncorick, Carrigallen, which has occurred at the Mons John Youngs Nursing Home, Carrick-on-Shannon, following a prolonged illness.

Maureen was a member of a very popular Kiernan family, Kilbracken, and came to reside in Clooncorick on her marriage to Larry Williams where she assisted him in the running of his business. In addition she took an active part in the running of a number of local organisations.

Maureen was a member of the local GAA club, organising functions, GAA question time, and she took part in many of the club quizzes. She was also a member of the Carrigallen ICA and Carrigallen Anglers Club and Festival committee.

Maureen was very popular with all classes and creeds, always ready to lend a helping hand in everything that was for the betterment of the parish. All this came to an end for her when she was struck down with a prolonged bout of serious illness which she bore with great fortitude and dignity. May she rest in peace.

Sympathy is extended to her husband Larry, Clooncorick; brothers Peter, Corlespratten, Arva; Johnny, Kilbracken; sisters, Mrs Margaret Gormley, Boston, USA; Mrs Monica Phillips, Conn, USA; Mrs Philomena Gormley, Pulladoey, Longford; Mrs Rose Ellen Duffy, Errew, Carrigallen; Miss Bridget Kiernan, London; also a number of nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a large circle of friends. The removal of remains and funeral following concelebrated Mass in which Rev Ultan McGoohan, CC Cavan, assisted by Very Rev Kevin Gormley, both friends of the family, and Very Rev D Murray, PP Carrigallen, which was very large and representative. Burial took place in adjoining cemetery.
