Kildare, Laois and Offaly GAA suspend all club fixtures

August 07, 2020

Kildare GAA have been forced to suspend club fixtures.

Following the announcement of the Government's regional restrictions for Kildare, Laois and Offaly to control the spread of Covid-19, GAA fixtures in these counties will be suspended for the next 14 days.

A midlands regional 'lockdown' will come into effect from midnight tonight on the advice of the NPHET after a recent surge in coronavirus cases. The measures will remain in place for a period of two weeks.

Clubs in Kildare, Laois and Offaly are allowed to hold training sessions but must do so on a non contact basis and involve a maximum of 15 people outdoors pending on a decision by the GAA.

The Government has also advised that "inter-county training and fixtures may continue" in the three counties despite the fact that this is not permitted until September 14 under the GAA's Return To Play guidelines.
