London Marathon

Kingscourt Stars committee members & coaches, Sean Kieran, Seamus Sexton, Ray Magee, Kieran Smith and David Crosby, are part of group of 30 who will compete in the  upcoming London Marathon on Sunday April 28.  Their aim is to raise funds to support research into Cystic Fibrosis and to raise awareness of Organ Donation. At this end they have held a couch to 5K , held several bucket collections at county games, and next weekend, Saturday April 20, they will hold a bucket collection outside Supervalu, Kingscourt.

David Crosby, who is leading the group, was diagnosed with Idopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and received a lifesaving double lung transplant operation. Since this operation he has worked relentlessly to support Cystic Fibrosis charities and raised funds while competing in New York & Berlin Marathons. He plans to compete in the Boston, Tokyo & Chicago marathons over the next couple of years.  He has also given numerous talks and has made many appearances in both local and national media promoting organ donation awareness. Best of luck to all competing and any support you can give will be very welcome.

Referees

Ever thought about becoming a referee? Our club needs volunteers, both male and female, to consider a role as a club referee. All that is required is to attend a Level 1 Basic Club Referee Course. Following the completion of this course and the successful completion of the rules assessment and fitness test, the referee is qualified to referee at Club level. This would be a huge addition to our club. Please contact a committee member if interested.
