Ladies Ulster Minor Final

Fulltime score   Lough Oughter 5 - 7    Bredagh (Down) 4 - 12

After a pulsating 80 minutes of thrilling football in Emyvale on Sunday last the Lough Oughter Minor girls lost narrowly to a fine Bredagh team from Co. Down.  The winners started very positively and with their power, pace and  ball skills threatened  to over run the Cavan girls.  But slowly the Lough Oughter girls began to find their rhythm and work themselves back into contention and goals from Aimee McIntyre, Erin Longair and Sinead McDonald left only four points in it at the break.  The Cavan girls came  out all guns blazing in the second half taking the game to their opponents and after another titanic struggle over 30 minutes it was a drawn game with a last gasp point from Arva's Kayleigh Brady keeping the Cavan ladies in the match.  Full time score Lough Oughter 4 - 6 Bredagh 3 - 9.

Bredagh just edged proceedings in extra time with an early opportunist goal setting them on the road to victory.  The Cavan girls never gave up and were unlucky with some efforts and also losing a player to the sin bin.  Time ran out for the gallant Cavan girls and the victorious Down Champions eventually edged a thriller of a game on a score line of Bredagh 4 - 12 Lough Oughter 5 - 7.

Well done to the girls on the panel on their great efforts over the Ulster Campaign and their team management for all their hard work.

Well done to the Cornafean ladies Aine Brady, Deirbhile McCaffrey and Aimee McIntyre who lined out on the day and all played their part with their team mates in a highly entertaining Ulster Final.  There was no shame in losing to their excellent opponents who will surely push on for All Ireland honours.
