U14 GIRLS

Our U14 Girls started their Division 2 campaign with an away fixture to Arva / Kilashandra on the 3G pitch on Saturday. The girls got off to a good start with goals from Aisling Doughty, Sinead O'Reilly and Aoife Tynan to lead 5-08 to 0-01 at the break. A couple of substitutions were made at half time and the girls continued were they had left off with more goals from Eabha Carolan, Charlie Whittaker and Siofra MvGeohan to run out comfortable winners 8-15 to 0-03. It was a great performance for their first game of the season.

U12 girls

Division 1 - A team

The girls knew they were up against in Derby match away to Lurgan, they played some good attacking football and are improving with every game. Although the score was 19-8 to Lurgan it did not reflect on the game as all the girls put in a mighty effort.

Our Division 5 -  B team

Which is relatively a younger squad showed great determination in the game against Lurgan. Lurgan came out winners with a score of 11- 5, but despite losing the girls put in an very good performance.

U15 BOYS

Two games this week for our U15 Div 2 team. First up was Castlerahan on Tuesday evening, after a bad start giving up a couple of goals, Cuchulainns got into their stride, and were down by just a point at half time. Cuchulainns controlled the second half and ran out comfortable winners by 16 points.  Next up on Thursday was Cavan Gaels. Again a poor start saw Cuchulainns down 8 points after just 4 mins, and down by 5 points at half time. The second half was an excellent performance and Cuchulainns were ahead by 2 points with just minutes to go, but the concession of a late goal and time almost up meant defeat by the narrowest of margins. 5-14 to 5-13.

U16 GIRLS

Our U16 girls were in action on Saturday in the Div. 1 league away to Caslterahan / Denn. It was a competitive first half were the girls fought hard. Goals from Amy Flanagan, Aisling Doughty and Eimear Smyth had the teams level at break with a score of 3-05 : 4-02.

The second half Cuchulainn's were playing against the wind and Castlerahan / Denn stepped it up gear to put a lot of pressure on our backs. Our girls dug deep and fought hard but Castlerahan / Denn ran out comfortable winners in the end with a final score line of 7-10 : 4-07.

The girls next have a home game this Friday 20thApril against Kingscourt. Throw in at 6.45pm

Mullagh Tidy Towns in conjunction with Kilian's Lodge Hotel and CLG Cuchulainns are holding our annual clean-up as part of An Taisce's National Spring Clean on Saturday 21st April, assembling on the Fair Green opposite Kilian's Lodge Hotel at 10:30am and are urging everyone to get involved. Refreshment in the hotel afterwards for all who take part.

Following a long winter, the roads are in a terrible state. We are asking farmers and land owners with road frontage to pick and remove any rubbish from their ditches and hedges. We encourage residents groups to clean the paths outside their estates. We ask the residents and businesses in the village to sweep and wash the footpaths. Why not wash the Townsland signs or any signs convenient to you. Everything, no matter how small makes a difference. Collection point for all rubbish collected on the day will be the Fair Green.  Further details, contact Tommy on 087-7696332.
