Tomkins, Larry

A witty, talented man, Larry was a role model

Larry Tomkins, Clogga, Arklow, and formerly of Knockananna, passed away peacefully on 22 January. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Eileen, his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Larry was most kind, good humoured, witty and had a very likeable manner, which endeared him to everyone. He was
a man of great faith and belief. Larry was never heard to say a bad word about anyone or use bad language. In many ways, he could be described as a role model, which was reflected by the large attendance at the removal and interment to Arklow Cemetery.

Larry had many interests in life, particularly the GAA and politics. He was keenly interested in all Wicklow county teams, especially his beloved Knockananna. He was a staunch Fianna Fail supporter all his life. He was a big fan of Irish traditional and country and western music.

Larry was a man of many talents. He was a very skilful tradesman and could turn his hand to anything. In his early
years, he was involved in local activities such as drama, GAA and local development schemes

Everyone involved would like to thank the kind staff at the Aisling House Nursing Home for looking after Larry for the last few months and Dr Foster who attended him. Parish priest Fr Cosgrave said some very kind words of support at the funeral Mass. Other clergy in attendance were Fr. Binoi, Fr McCarney, Castletown, Fr Owen Lambert, Knockananna
and Fr Edward Barry, Aughrim.

Sean Tomkins paid a glowing tribute during the funeral Mass, which was a most appropriate and accurate portrayal
of Larry. And the choir sang some lovely hymns during Mass.

Larry's family would like to thank the large crowd who attended the removal and interment on both days, especially those who had to travel long distances. Larry's brother-in-law John and his kind neighbours and friends were most helpful during his illness.

Mass will be offered for the intentions of all who gave Mass cards and those who expressed kind words of sympathy.
