The death took place (suddenly) at his home, Rathrush, Rathoe on Saturday 20 August of Declan Donohoe. Aged 61 years, he was the only son of the late Pat and Mary Donohoe. Declan trained as a psychiatric nurse and worked in St Dympna's Hospital, Carlow for many years.
He played GAA with The Fighting Cocks Club and also played badminton, squash and pitch and putt as a young man. His remains were removed from McGuill's Funeral Home, Bennekerry to St Patrick's Church on the day following his death, and burial took place in the adjoining cemetery following requiem Mass on Tuesday 23 August. Declan is survived by his wife Nuala, sons DJ, Pauric, Terence and John Paul, daughters Yvonne, Imelda and Noelle, sisters Claire Kelly (Rathrush) and Emer Kelly (Dublin), six grandchildren, brothers-in-law, niece and other relatives.
