St Mullins set up a Carlow SHC final showdown with neighbours Mount Leinster Rangers after accounting for Ballinkillen after extra-time in their semi-final on Saturday evening at Netwatch Cullen Park.

St Mullins came in for widespread praise for requesting that the game be played after it was initially awarded to them and those in attendance were glad that it did as they were treated to a cracking game of hurling. The sides were level at 0-7 each at half-time and at 2-12 to 1-15 at full-time after Marty Kavanagh's injury-time goal from a 30-metre free earned extra-time for St Mullins.

St Mullins never looked back after that as further goals from Seamus Murphy and Phillip Connors secured a 3-19 to 1-19 victory.
