Carlow manager Turlough O’Brien believes that they had no luck in their FL3 campaign following their relegation last Sunday.

With two games to go in the campaign, Carlow were still in the hunt for promotion but defeats to Down and Laois in their last two games saw their season turned upside down and they make a swift return to FL4.

O’Brien spoke to the Carlow Nationalist about his disappointment over being relegated and added that a lack of luck had played its part in their demise.

“It has turned out that way. Over the national football league we didn’t get the rub of the green once. The year started off with a lot of injuries and going into the league we were slow to get going. It came down to the last day as we said it would. It didn’t fall our way though.

Carlow must now turn their attention to the Leinster SFC where they will meet either Meath or Offaly on May 25th.
