Team news: Barron and Gleeson handed first starts of league campaign as Deise make five changes

February 15, 2019

Waterford duo Jamie Barron and Austin Gleeson.

Jamie Barron and Austin Gleeson are both handed their first starts of the 2019 Allianz HL campaign as Waterford make five changes for tomorrow's meeting with Carlow in Dungarvan.

The former All-Stars didn't feature in the Deise's opening two games of Division 1B, with Paraic Fanning's side recording comfortable 27 and 16-point victories over Offaly and Laois, respectively.

Barron will wear the number eight jersey, alongside Colligan's Colin Dunford, who is also set for his first start in this year's league, while Gleeson is named at left half-back.

Meanwhile, Fanning has resisted the temptation to recall any of the Ballygunner players for the Fraher Field fixture following their All-Ireland club SHC semi-final defeat to Ballyhale Shamrocks last weekend.

Waterford (Allianz HL v Carlow): Billy Nolan; Shane McNulty, Conor Prunty, Noel Connors; Jordan Henley, Michael Walsh, Austin Gleeson; Jamie Barron, Colin Dunford; Jack Prendergast, Mikey Kearney, DJ Foran; Tommy Ryan, Stephen Bennett, Shane Bennett.
