Quirke not getting carried away

September 12, 2018

Naomh Eoin joint-manager Tom Quirke was pleased with their performance against Ballinkillen, but stressed there was still plenty to improve on in their SHC campaign.

The last of the group games was played last weekend and Naomh Eoin will not play St Mullins in the semi-final, while Mount Leinster Rangers face Ballinkillen.

Quirke pointed out that the format of the Carlow senior hurling championship had them in a semi-final even before the ball was thrown in, but he admitted to the Carlow Nationalist that it is always good to get a win.

“We were in a semi-final before we pucked a ball,” said Quirke. “We got 2-20 which I am very happy about. 1-10 in each half. I can’t complain.

“I thought our lads played really well. They tried all over the field. Our discipline was very good and I am very happy with it.”
